RASSA’s Migration Assistance Project is largely reliant on volunteers to deliver its services. The two most obvious areas of need are for registered migration agents, and for qualified interpreters. Although migration assistance and advice, which includes advising applicants in relation to their applications for asylum and assisting them to prepare a statement of the basis for their claim, can only be provided by registered migration agents, there are a number of other ways in which volunteers who are not migration agents can contribute.

The outreach stage of the Project will be delivered by non-migration agents, and we anticipate that this stage will utilise law student (or law graduate) volunteers. We are also in the process of setting up this Project from scratch, and there are a multitude of tasks that could helpfully be completed by volunteers. These include administrative tasks, designing a database, contributing to a manual to be used by volunteers and many other tasks.
